HELLO, SPST!

Yes, that’s Stonewall Park Swim Team, "Not your AVERAGE SWIM TEAM!"

On behalf of the board members, Stonewall Park Pool, the assistant coaches, and volunteers, I welcome you to another fun and exciting swim season. My name is Maurie Stevens, and I am the returning head coach who previously served seven years as an assistant SPST coach.

I am very excited to be working with a team of experienced assistants. Debroah Clark has been involved with SPST for many years as a volunteer and served as the head coach of the Emmanuel Christian Swim Team. Hillary Powell has had many years of experience in the sport, both at the college level and as a swim instructor. We will benefit from the knowledge of youthful assistants, as well. Some who have swum for SPST and are now in college and a few other senior level swimmers who are still on the team.

Okay, now that the introductions are over, let’s get to what SPST is all about…. working hard in the water, learning, meeting new friends, gaining confidence in abilities that you may not know you ever had, achieving goals for yourself and your team, and most of all having fun! The coaching team at SPST this season will be dedicated to teaching the swimmers the importance of good sportsmanship, as well as providing a learning environment for the swimmers to grow in the sport.

I am very excited about this season, and can’t wait to see all of you at the pool! GO STONEWALL!!!!!!!
